#structuralengineering #civilengineering #uhpc LIVE TECHNICAL DISCUSSION SERIES Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a cementitious composite material composed of an optimized gradation of granular constituents, with an ultra-low water-cement content, and a high percentage of discontinuous internal fiber reinforcement. UHPC is densely packed using micro and sometime nano size material ingredients, which imparts UHPC its two signature properties – ultra-high mechanical and ultra-high durability. The result is structural sections that are over 50 percent lighter than concrete sections, negligible reinforcement, and a service life that is devoid of any structural maintenance or repair. The material finds applications ranging from bridge and building structural elements to protective overlays on bridge decks, industrial slabs, building facades, mechanical device bedding and foundations, interior panels, tiles, outdoor furniture, and blast resistant structures amongst others.
