On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane along the Taylor County coastline. The same community was ravaged by Hurricane Debby and Hurricane Idalia in 13 months. In the aftermath, WCTV got crews to the hardest hit areas as officials and residents began their initial scope of the damage. This newscast aired just hours after the storm left our region. Our live coverage spanned from the area where Helene made landfall well into South Georgia. From our anchors, to our MMJs, sports team and meteorologists, this was an all-hands-on-deck effort.
