FC Goa knocked out Delhi FC and sealed their place in the 130th Durand Cup semifinals at Kalyani Stadium on Friday. The Gaurs dominated the Delhi Reds by 5-1 goals. In the first half, FC Goa took the lead with three goals. Within 15 minutes, Devendra Murgaokar opened the scoreboard for the Gaurs. Again, within three minutes, another goal was scored by Muhammed Nemil. Towards the end of the first half, Brendon Fernandes netted the ball. In the second half, FC Goa appeared to be more charged up and Leander D’Cunha and Alexander RomarioJesuraj scored two more goals to confirm FC Goa’s place in the semifinals. Delhi FC, who managed to knock out Kerala Blasters and progress to the quarterfinals, could not beat FC Goa. Nikhil Mali scored the solitary goal for the Delhi Reds. Leander D. Cunha bagged the man of the match award. Asia’s oldest football tournament, the Durand Cup, is back again with a tough fight between the sixteen teams. This is the 130th edition of the tournament. The sixteen teams are divided into four groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. The final is on October 3, 2021.
