Olivia Chiang was born in California in December, 1999. At the age of five, she studied piano at Yamaha music school where she received many awards. At the age of seven, she began her classical guitar lessons with her father James Chiang. She participated in Christopher Parkening and Roland Dyen’s Masterclass at the age of 10. Several composers have composed guitar music for her when she was ten: Alex Chudnovsky (Australia), Jovan Pesec (Austria), Calos Atilano (Venezuela), Maurice Sherbanee (USA), Ricardo Boppre (Brazil), Amir Abbasi (Iran), Richard Glenn (USA) and James Chiang (USA). She received Music Performance Diploma from the Royal School of Music in London, UK through the Association Board Royal School of Music (ABRSM) at the age of 11. She performed Vivaldi’s Lute Concerto (RV 93) at the age of 13 with Seraphim Symphony Orchestra at Irvine with Irvine Classical Players (ICP), Concerto de Aranjuez and Classical Gas with the symphony orchestra at Walnut High School at the age of 14 with conductor Dr. Buddy Clements. She recorded her first solo CD Sweet Sixteen at the age of 16, and The Complete Lute Suites by Bach at 19. Olivia currently studies music at Thornton School of Music at University of Southern California.
