Birding at The Clot de Galvany - Spain - 6 February 2026

I enjoyed a beautiful morning at El Clot de Galvany, with blue skies and sunshine throughout. Although bird numbers and species were relatively low, it was still a very pleasant and rewarding visit. My best photos of the day were of Red-crested Pochards, and I’ve included a distribution map of the species in my short video/slideshow. But I recall reading that Red-crested Pochard are now established as a breeding bird in Britain following reintroductions at the Cotswold Water Park, where over 200 birds are now regularly counted. The most notable sighting of the morning was a group of seven Ferruginous Ducks, although the group was seen at some distance away were also the highlight of my day.
