... and now a song for chord lovers. "Love Shoulda Brought You Home" was written by Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Daryl Simmons, and Bo Watson (of the band Midnight Star). It was produced by Babyface, LA Reid and Daryl Simmons. If you think this song sounds like Anita Baker, you aren't too far off. It was inspired by the movie Boomerang and was originally pitched to Anita with her in mind, but she was pregnant at the time and said no. It ended up becoming one of Toni Braxton's early hits and the rest is history. I originally intended to perform only the piano chords as sort of a tutorial. It sounded empty, so I ended up putting a lead voicing on it (similar to the lead voicing at the beginning of "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson). As Babyface would say, "for the cool in you." I do not own rights to this composition.
