Scleroderma is a serious autoimmune condition, and many people with scleroderma will need to take at least one medication. While medications can help people with scleroderma feel better and become healthier, the side effects of these medications can sometimes be intimidating. This lecture will focus on how to have a conversation with your doctor about medication side effects. We will discuss ways to obtain reliable information about medication risks, how to frame our understanding of medication risks, and how to minimize the risks of some commonly used medications. We will also talk about how vaccinations can help to reduce the risk of serious infection, particularly in people who take medications that lower the immune system. 2024 National Scleroderma Conference
