How AI will be used in VR games: Exploring the Metaverse

Moritz notes that we’re in the midst of an explosion of AI models and use cases and that, for the first time, “anyone can become a creator.” Two technologies leading this transformation are generative AI, a platform that helps generate realistic content, and stable diffusion, which enables users to generate high-quality images with a text prompt. The relationship between AI and XR is closely intertwined. Since XR devices constantly gather information and respond to their environment in real time, they need efficient AI and machine learning to perform tasks like scanning the room for obstacles, tracking hand movements, and creating facial meshes. As AI becomes more accessible and ubiquitous, XR devices will be able to deliver more immersive experiences that blur the lines between reality and the virtual world. In the coming years, we may see the beginnings of generative AI in XR, whether through generating immersive 3D words or building AI-driven avatars from a simple voice or text prompt. The future of AI holds exciting promise for XR and the world of technology as we know it.
