Personalized support from me! / iplaygitar For this acoustic tune, I have quite the challenge for you. I have arranged Bach's Prelude in C Minor BWV 999 for pick-style guitar. I have also transcribed it in the key of D minor to make it more playable on the guitar. The entire piece is based mostly around one picking pattern. In the lesson video, I will explain why I use this picking pattern as well as other ways that you may want to try picking it. The fret-hand does most of the heavy lifting in this piece. I think it is a fantastic study in learning how to "walk" into challenging chords. This walking into chords concept works great in arpeggiated pieces like this one. It will make your chord work far more economical and the piece in general much easier to play. This is a core Bach piece within the classical guitar repertoire and I am sure you can find many performances and recordings of it within that genre. However, I also think it works great with a standard steel string acoustic played with pick-style guitar and I hope you agree as well. Take your time, follow the TAB and slowly work on each chord transition over and over again before moving to the next transition. Then slowly piece all of the chord changes together. In the lesson video, I will isolate some of the more awkward chord changes and demonstrate how I finger them in order to make it as easy as possible. In addition to that, there are some very large stretches required as well. The walking into chords technique will help you stretch those hands out.
