Stay Safe Everyone!💙🤍💚❤ 1902 Bonifacio Global City (BGC) was once part of a multi-hectare portion of Taguig that the United States government acquired in 1902 and operated as a military base. It was named Fort McKinley after US President William McKinley. 1949 In May 1949, Fort McKinley was turned over to the Philippine Government. 1957 In 1957, Fort McKinley was renamed Fort Bonifacio (after the Father of the Philippine Revolution against Spain, Andres Bonifacio, whose father was a native of Taguig). Fort Bonifacio became the permanent headquarters of the Philippine Army. 1990s The Bases Conversion and Development Act of 1992 (RA 7227) was signed into law creating the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) with the primary task of transforming former military bases and properties into premier centers of economic growth and sustainable communities. 1995-1997 BCDA and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation formed a joint venture called the Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC) for the purpose of developing portions of Fort Bonifacio land. In 1997, the project experienced setbacks due to the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. 2003 Ayala Land and Evergreen Holdings partnered with BCDA to continue the development of what is now known as Bonifacio Global City. Today Today, Bonifacio Global City, also known as The Fort, or just BGC is a thriving lifestyle, business, and financial district. BGC is home to skyscraper buildings used either for residential and or business purposes. Classy hotels, shopping centers, hospitals, schools, open spaces, leisure facilities, museums, and a lot more can be found all over the area. BGC is considered to be one of the safest residential and business neighborhoods in the Philippines, thanks to its 24/7 Intelligence Security Surveillance, extensive presence of security and stern traffic enforcement.
