Watch this recorded MeBe Learning Webinar to learn more about pediatric feeding disorders and feeding therapy. A feeding disorder is diagnosed when a child consistently refuses or is unable to eat sufficient quantities or varieties of food, resulting in inadequate caloric or nutritional intake. Research has shown that feeding disorders occur in as many as 35% of typically developing children and 80% of children diagnosed with developmental disabilities. During this online webinar, presenters will teach you how medical, oral-motor, sensory, and behavioral factors could all be contributing to your child’s feeding difficulties. We will also help you to understand when treatment is necessary and will review sensory focused treatment strategies to fit your child’s individual needs. Finally, we will teach you how to get started with the basics to help make mealtimes more successful at home. This webinar is presented by our multidisciplinary feeding therapy team, including: Hylan Noble, M.S., CCC-SLP, MeBe Associate Clinical Director of Speech & Language Pathology Angela Ochoa, MS, OTR/L, MeBe Clinical Director of Occupational Therapy Shana Smith, COTA/L, MeBe Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Nicole Frolander, MA, BCBA, San Diego Regional Director Hylan, Angela, Shana, and Nicole work together at the MeBe San Diego Learning Center to collaborate across disciplines to support children with feeding disorders with a collaborative approach to feeding therapy by incorporating play-based, child-led, sensory-focused, and behavioral based strategies and techniques.
