Why the Theology of Nicaea is Critical to Salvation

Lurking behind the debates and formulations of Nicea and in particular its struggle to define the person of Jesus Christ was a concern for the nature of the human person’s salvation as evidenced in the phrase “...for us men and our salvation.” This talk will explore the relationship between Christology and Soteriology. How theological grammars common to each of these areas of theology are different but complementary and how Christology is in service to our understanding and application of deification (theosis). What we say about who Jesus is (Christology) impacts how we understand the nature of our own relationship with God (Soteriology).
