Where in Ukraine are there the most preserved thatched-roofed houses? Almost everyone is interested in thatched roof houses - they tickle our imagination and arouse our interest. When we see the few remnants of this archaic way of roofing buildings, most of us stop, take a photo, and examine the house or barn. When traveling around Ukraine, you don't see this type of roof very often. Yes, they are in museums, very remote and forgotten villages, and less often in modern eco-friendly villas. But it turns out that there is a region in our country where most of the population still lives with such roofs. For them, it is so commonplace and familiar that they hardly attach any importance to it. No, it's not the Carpathians, Polissya, Volyn, or even Poltava or Podillia. Although, wait... It is indeed the historical and geographical Podillia, located in the north of the Odesa region. Here, today, in 2024, in the 21st century, almost every tenth house is covered with reeds, which the locals reap on the Kodyma River. Our project, which has seen a lot of amazing and interesting things, was amazed - we had never seen anything like this before. So, enough of this writing, look and enjoy the beautiful, authentic Ukraine, its picturesque huts with a roof, which are adorned in these parts today, as they were hundreds of years ago.
