He highlighted the strong message delivered during the address by Cyril Ramaphosa that energy is not a luxury but a means for survival, stressing the importance of both generation and the transmission infrastructure required to evacuate that power across the region. Mr. Kanjelesa noted that these discussions resonate strongly with Enterprise Power’s work in strengthening energy security, particularly following the severe drought that created significant power deficits in Zambia. In response, the company has been actively sourcing power both domestically and across borders at least cost to help stabilize supply. He also pointed to the growing recognition of African-led solutions in the development of power infrastructure, a vision reflected in projects such as the privately developed transmission interconnector linking Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
