Quick update: I have been getting a lot of notifications from youtube lately, little did I know that this video is featured on Yoora's new VLOG episode. Here is the backstory of this video. I was really close with Yoora during our undergraduate study, well, not so much these days. Life happens. If my memory serves me right, it was on her third day after Yoora came back from her semester break to Korea when she finally decided to join the Miss UPH pageant. I teased her to join for so many times but she did not retaliate. Tbh, I was kind of in awe when I saw her so determined to join this program despite her gaining few kilos (like literally) upon returning from Korea, the asian-foodie-mecca. Long story short, she finally enrolled in the pageant. During the bootcamp period, she was required to sell tickets for the coronation night. That would be a no-sweat job for today's Yoora. But back then Yoora was almost invisible. In spite of her being bubbly, everybody seemingly kept their distance from this effervescent persona. Every contestant, within few days managed to sold out their tickets while in contrast Yoora was only able to convince few of her friends to come (l can recall there were less than 12 friends). Convince seems like a modest term, it was more like 'begging' to be precise. Her only motivation at the time was the the main prize, a fully paid tuition fee for a semester. Well, once in a while, we all can face a liquidity issue, huh? haha. That night was one of the "when the stars are aligned and it's bound to happen" moments, like I knew it from the beginning that she will snatch the crown. As you can tell from the video presented here that she is indeed the rightful winner for her batch. Congrats, Yoo! Btw I didn't know that she'll be 'this' famous, so I recorded this video mainly to test out my new (back in the days it was a brand new camera lol) acquired Nikon D3100, with a little effort of editing here and there.
