Wanted to share our skit video on how to better talk to your parents about anti-Black racism and Black Lives Matter. We performed this skit at the event through a joint collaboration with the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, and Yale CHATogether. We had such a great fruitful discussion on this important topic! Learn how to increase empathy and change perspectives using an evidence-based method. This skit is depicted from an Asian American and also medical student perspective, but the technique is widely applicable. Our conversation guides in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Korean, Vietnamese, with other languages are shared on https://chatogether.org/. We also provide the romanization (that’s when you write out the sounds of the words of the language using the English alphabet). We hope that will give people the vocabulary that they need to discuss with their parents this complex issue in depth and with nuance. Check out our conversation guides at https://chatogether.org/ Special thanks to: Actors: Alan Lee and Nealie Ngo Moderator: Dr Eunice Yuen Skit Director: Kara Beck Skit Consultant: Yves-Marie Toussaint Skit Editor: Joan Yang and Hana Lee Collaborator: APAMSA colleagues: Haruna Aridomi and Vivian Chan Li Funding support: APA SAMHSA minority funds to E.Y.
