"Portals" - Ben Hupfer

This song started with messing around with the step sequencing on my Korg Minilogue XD. I used two successful sequences I got and put them in logic in more of a pop song structure. Then I did drums using the boutique 909 in Logic Pro X. By then I was vibing pretty good and getting solo Thom Yorke vibes. I laid the bass guitar. It matches the low end of the synthesizer and has a lot of attack in the picking. The guitar is a fender Strat played through an Orange Crush 60 amp and boss DS2 distortion pedal and mic'd up with a Shure SM57. All of this was done on the spot so it was really fun. It is inspired mostly by solo Thom Yorke, John Frusciante, Nine Inch Nails, and all of the new wave greats like Depeche Mode and New Order.
