Birmingham, UK, 29th May 2010 - After hours of intense competition against some of the country's best Pokémon players, four competitors nabbed top spots and earned invitations to the 2010 Pokémon Video Game World Championships held in Hawaii, The Pokémon Company International today announced. Four players from both the Junior and Senior divisions used remarkable skill and strategy, edging out the other players in the 2010 Pokémon Video Game Championship European Qualifier held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on Saturday 29th May 2010. These players will now have the opportunity to battle against some of the best Pokémon video game players in the World at the ultimate title competition in Hawaii—the Pokémon Video Game World Championships. The winners were: JUNIOR DIVISION 1st place—Chris Rotheringham (12) Maidenbower, Crawley 2nd place—Sam Taylor (11) Treddington Additional European Qualifiers Include: Oliver Mears (11) Cockthawn, Crawley Rit Chantschool (12) London SENIOR DIVISION 1st place—Rees Hamilton (16) Torquay 2nd place—Dale Jacob (19) Warsop, Nottinghamshire Additional European Qualifiers Include: Lee Provost (25) High Wycombe Minhaal Datoo (16) London These Pokémon Trainers have earned an invitation to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Hawaii on August 13--15, where players will compete against international rivals from Japan and America to determine the World Champion in each division and win international travel packages, trophies and special Pokémon prize packages.
