In today’s Saturday Chitchat, we’re talking about some of the weirdest and most surprising reasons adult children have given for going no contact with their parents. These are real stories shared in estrangement support groups — and some of them honestly made me say, “You’re kidding me.” Before anyone jumps to conclusions — this isn’t about mocking or minimizing anyone’s pain. Family estrangement is complex and deeply personal. Sometimes, though, looking at things through a lighter lens helps us process what can otherwise feel overwhelming. I’ll also share a few reflections from my own experience with estrangement, and (as promised!) show a few younger photos of me that definitely brought back some memories.
