AMDI Database protocols to monitor and collect litter and marine debris data at different types of location settings. About this event: In an Australian first, the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI), as part of its work with ReefClean, has released monitoring protocols for litter and marine debris. These have been developed to offer a standardised approach for citizen scientists collecting this important data on a national scale. Robust monitoring programs led by citizen scientists are vital in guiding marine debris reduction and prevention strategies, and to protect the future of our marine resources. Part One: What are the AMDI Monitoring Protocols and why are they important? Part Two: How are the monitoring protocols applied to different types of location settings? What is ReefClean? ReefClean is a project funded by the Australian Government's Reef Trust. Launched in early 2019, the project aims to remove and prevent marine debris along the Great Barrier Reef region through to 2023. In order to do this, Tangaroa Blue Foundation has partnered with several organisations to achieve success.
