Bluebells stay underground as bulbs for half a year to avoid the hot and dry summer in Melbourne. When winter and cool rainwater arrive in June, they wake up and break through the soil, turn the tree beds to be green carpet quickly. The lovely blue flowers appear firstly in late August and then enter full bloom in September and October. Soon after the flower finishes in November, the leaves start to wilt, by the end of December and the beginning of January, the plants have disappeared completely from the ground as if they never existed. 蓝铃花一年中有半年的时间是以球茎的方式躺在地下休眠，以躲过夏季的炎热与干旱。随着冬天雨季的到来，球茎被唤醒，于六月破土而出，九月十月进入盛花期，到十一月就开始败了，到圣诞节前后地面部分差不多已经全部枯死，一月的时候就完全见不到踪影了，仿佛根本没来过。注意，这是南半球（墨尔本）的情况，北半球的生长期正好于此相反。
