How to Laminate Any Paper With Wax Paper, Gluestick And A Sizzix - Espresso Press Design

Learn to laminate paper using wax paper, a gluestick, and a Sizzix embossing machine—a great way to preserve fragile papers or news clippings. A gluestick is recommended as it shortens drying time, preventing slippage during pressing. Materials Needed: Sizzix embossing/die-cutting machine Wax paper Gluestick School glue (optional technique) Scissors or trimmer Images, paper, or news clippings Packaging or scrapbook paper Tips: After gluing, run the images through the press to ensure they're adhered well. Press the wax paper layer first with a roller if possible. Ensure the glue is nearly dry before pressing to prevent wrinkles or bubbles. Make sure your glue is almost completely dry to avoid the layers slipping due to the pressure of the Sizzix machine. If you see wrinkles, bubbles or tearing of the paper image your glue is too wet. Almost any glue can be used but the same instructions apply, wait for tacky stage, gluestick dries faster. If issues occur, run it through the press again to smooth wrinkles out. Inspiration: Add gold leaf flakes for extra interest. Layer images, mix book pages with cutouts, or emboss sections for unique effects. Crumple wax paper for a cracked glass look. Stazon ink is probably the only ink that might adhere to the wax paper without smearing. This technique is easy, protective and adds an antique luster. This one has a pocket for an index card. With the extra scraps make tabs, a journal card and a tag or whatever you desire. What you’ll need: 1 12×12″ scrapbook paper cut to 8.5×11″ scoreboard or scoring tool glue scissors Begin with your 8.5×11″ piece of paper, position at portrait format on your scoreboard and score at 4 1/4″. Turn your paper a quarter turn to landscape format and score at 5 1/2″. The scores are at the center point of each side. From the left side, cut along the scoreline to the center point. Fold, burnish and assembles as shown in the video tutorial. To make the index card, measure your 3 1/2″x12″piece to fit the card length, mark with a pencil and cut. Be sure to include your glue margin, no need to adjust the width. Use the remainder scraps to make a journal card and tags and use the 1″ scrap to make tabs and a tiny tag as shown in the video. The pocket can either be top load or side load. If you choose to make a notch position the notch where it will visible in the triangle space. The final size is 4.25″ x 5.5″ which is a standard A2 size card. This triple pocket has a lot of storage for gift giving, happy mail or as an ephemera holder for in your journal.
