This review benchmarks and tests the new AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT (R9 3900 XT) CPU from AMD, which is intended to be sold for about $500 -- $100 more than the 3900X non-T -- and competes most directly in price with the 10900K and its own predecessor, the 3900X. AMD's strategy of flooding the market has thus far backfired, and we're now looking at the company's final CPU in its new lineup, likely getting ourselves cut from the sampling list for next round, given AMD's history of responding in such a manner. The 3900XT CPU has higher single-core, dual-core, and other limited-utilization boosting frequencies, but unfortunately, this hasn't helped AMD much in the 3600XT or 3800XT CPU benchmarks. The 3900XT is tested with SMT on and off for gaming, giving it the best shot at trying to crack the top of the Intel ranking. It's also tested with all-core overclocks in production workloads, like for video editing and rendering or 3D modeling.
