Since we like to visit historic sites, we decided to join the National Trust. Lydford Gorge is the first site we visited as NT members. The walk is only 3 miles but took as nearly 2 to 3 hours to complete as we had plenty of stops to enjoy the scenery and take photos. The walk begins along the top path of the gorge and then descends down to the base of Whitelady Waterfall. From the beautiful cascade, it was an amazing walk along the river path. The ground looks very slippery but I didn't find any problem with my low cut walking shoes. The walk to Devil's Couldron was the best part in my opinion. It rained the day before and therefore lots of water activity in and around the gorge. The downside is that there were fallen trees blocking the path to the pool so weren't able to explore that area. Even so, it was an enjoyable experience.
