What does Adult Care look Like in Southampton? - Thomas's Story Thomas wears a GPS phone connected to Telecare, which is worn on a lanyard around his neck. Thomas loves shopping and finds the GPS tracker useful to contact family members easily at the touch of the button when out and about and he feels he needs help. This is helping Thomas to have his own independence and do the things he loves on his own, whilst giving family members peace of mind. Southampton City Councils’ Telecare Services offers 24 hour help to over 6,300 city residents (and over 2,700 Portsmouth residents), providing security and peace of mind, which is connected directly to a local monitoring and responding team that give help when an alarm is raised. Southampton residents interested in Telecare Services, including the dedicated responding service should visit www.southampton.gov.uk/telecare or call (023) 8083 3675.
