This track has always fascinated me. I love the way the time signature seems to wander all over the place. Sometimes it sounds like 3/4, sometimes like 7/4, sometimes like... who knows? But, the amazing thing (to us drummers anyway) is that the whole thing is written in 4/4 time. It's like a rhythmic hologram; it changes when "seen" from different points of view. And this track was done nearly 20 years ago! These guys were and are so far ahead of their time, and truly pioneers of progressive music (as in creating something really new - progress!). Thank you Meshuggah for your Dali-esque take on 4/4 time (see Dali's painting - "The Persistence of Memory", which I think is a good visual to accompany this piece).
