Hake brushes are beautiful, soft, inexpensive goat hair brushes. I love them for creating background washes or feathering out soft watercolour landscape skies. They are very absorbent and excellent at creating even washes. The 2" hake brush in this video is from Opus Art Supplies and retails for approximately $9 - what a deal! The goat hair bristles are stitched into a wooden or bamboo handle (no metal ferrule). Tips for working with and caring for your hake brush: some hairs may fall out at the beginning of use - don't panic - this is normal! never leave your brush sitting in a water container wash your brush is cold water, reshape with your fingers and lay flat to dry if you dry off your brush and then dip it in the watercolour, you can create interesting 'dry brush' textures SUPPLIES: Journal: Handbook Co.
