Welcome to Texas Tint Masters, where we take car tinting to the next level! In today's episode, we tackle the challenge of installing the craziest tint we've ever encountered on a car. Our client brought in their Mustang, and we're replacing the regular tint with a luminous gold reflective film. Now, this is a new type of tint for us, but we're no strangers to working with Metalized or reflective films in other applications like homes and commercial spaces. As we unroll the film, we notice that it comes in a kit with different-sized rolls. This presents a unique challenge because reflective tints are not typically designed to mold or shape to the glass of a car. Nevertheless, we're eager to see if there are any techniques or modifications that make it more suitable for automotive use. One thing we already anticipate is the difficulty of seeing out of this tint. The outer color is a striking gold, while the inner side is a super bright silver. During the day, visibility is manageable, but at night, it turns into a mirror-like surface, making it challenging to see through. We've experienced similar films in the past and even had to remove one from a Jeep due to excessive reflection. The reflective properties of bright interiors tend to amplify light, resulting in a mirror effect. However, the owner of this car was okay with it, and we had a BLAST installing it. Now, let's get into the nitty-gritty of the installation process. We start by shrinking the film to fit the shape of the glass. This metallic film is a bit trickier to shrink compared to regular automotive tints, requiring careful heat control to prevent overheating or damaging the film. We take extra precautions when working on the corners, as overheating can cause ghosting, where the metallic particles break down due to excessive heat exposure. During the installation, we highlight a new addition to our toolkit—the Flat Out squeegee from Fusion Tools. We received it at the recent geoshield dealer conference and decided to put it to the test with this unique tint. With its yellow-gold color, it complements the gold reflective tint perfectly. After completing the installation, we take the newly tinted Mustang for a test drive. The yellow hue of the tint is vibrant, and during the day, visibility is still decent. However, we anticipate that night driving might be more challenging due to the highly reflective nature of the tint. As we hit the road, we ensure the car performs as expected, maintaining its speed and keeping our voice audible over the car's engine noise. We conclude the episode with our thoughts on using the luminous gold reflective tint. It adds a distinct and eye-catching look to the Mustang, perfectly complementing its bold personality.
