In this webinar on January 11, 2012, CRL presented findings from its recent Human Rights Electronic Evidence Study. Marie Waltz (special projects manager) discussed the nature and "lifecycle" of human rights evidence, drawing on case studies of events in Rwanda and elsewhere. Sarah Van Deusen Phillips (project coordinator) summarized some of the findings from the assessment of regional organizations in Mexico, Rwanda, and Russia. James Simon (principal investigator) discussed some of the tools and practices being used by organizations to collect and create documentation, as well as the adequacy of these processes for using electronic evidence in advocacy, legal uses, and in scholarship. He also highlighted some of the major points in the assessment of legal requirements of electronic evidence in national and international judicial processes.
