A clip from "Regarding Bullfrogs and Universal Power Dynamics" by Majid Araim, performed December 12, 2024 at First Existentialist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. This opera is an installment from Otherwhere. Otherwhere is an ever expanding large form terpsichorean work: framed in a world much like and existing alongside our own, engaging in commentary exploring a myriad of themes. Otherwhere mirrors our turmoils and triumphs as lifeforms of an ecological system; accessible to humans only through dreams and meditation [represented by witnessing live/recorded performance] , governed by magic and/or intention [our personal narratives or interpretations thereof have the power to shape our reality] and chronicled through experimental performance expression. All scenes from Otherwhere hope to encourage heuristic endeavor; to evoke passion regarding reflection of experience, investment in exploration of perspective, and awareness of the fruits born from those labors, coalescing sound, gesture, and technology to engage in play, communication, observation, and commentary as a representation of the different degrees in which biological systems coexist in any given environment, creating space for the exploration of how we treat each other and the world in which we exist. In this scene The Deer King has just materialized through a spider web portal to congratulate the bullfrog for eating the fairies. Through this circumstance: the current political ruler's fate is sealed; her life force faded, and replaced by the Deer King, a new ruler. The Deer King seeks to recruit the bullfrog to its legion of enforcers to ensure it's [the deer king has no gender] governance is followed by the citizens of Rantas and beyond. The bullfrog refuses as it did not mean to eat the fairies, even if it suspected so after the fact. The magical battle of will ensues...
