Learn the correct way to use formable foam earplugs. Sounds can be harmful when they are too loud and last for a while. The louder the sound, the quicker it can damage your hearing. Hearing protectors, such as earplugs, can help prevent noise-induced hearing loss. Formable earplugs are easy to use. Insert them properly to get the best hearing protection. Just roll the earplug into a thin snake, pull the ear up and back with the opposite hand, and gently insert the earplug into the ear canal until it is flush with the opening of the ear. Then hold the earplug in place until it expands fully. Formable earplugs are made of soft foam and are disposable, inexpensive, and available in many stores.
