The temple was constructed by Chandrasekara Nayakar, erstwhile Nayak kings of Hosur. He is the Son of King Ramnaicker, who at the request of Vijayanagara King fought against Bijapur Sultans with a large army. The battle was won by Vijayanagara Kings, the king was very happy with the help offered by King Ramnaicker and so felicitated him infront of Hosur Citizens. King Ramnaicker's son who ascended to the throne after Ramnaicker had built Jalakandeswarar Temple and a Pushkarani (Temple Tank) / Theppakulam adjacent to the Temple, remembering his father's valor. The temple premises are close to famous Kottai Mariamman Temple. The fort of the Naick Kings who ruled Hosur was believed to be near the Kottai Mariamman Temple Premises, thier tutelary deity / family deity, along with patronising Chandrachoodeswara Temple, famously called Malai Kovil of Hosur. Theppaam Thiruvizha was celebrated on Sunday, The 27th Day of August in 2023.
