Karnataka Caste Survey Hits Delays; Deadline Extended, Rs 20,000 For Enumerators

The Karnataka government has extended the deadline for its statewide social and economic survey. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a 12-day extension, stating, "the survey will be completed by October 19th." The decision follows delays caused by technical glitches and other issues, which have led to uneven progress across the state. While districts like Koppal report 93% completion, the survey in Bengaluru has only reached 20-30% of households. To ensure the task is finished, the government has announced an honorarium of 20,000 rupees for each enumerator, primarily teachers, involved in the data collection.
