This video shows how you can use a modified framing square to bypass a latch guard. This technique will usually only work on doors that are installed incorrectly (dead latch falls into keeper). If you would like to learn more on how the dead latch works, you can check out this video: Shove Knife, plastic door shim, dead latch and art of loiding explained. • Shove Knife, plastic door shim, dead latch... (info card) In the 1st video, you can see I use passive entry by pushing my body weight into the door, so the dead latch falls into the keeper. Another option would be to drive a wedge between the door and the frame to create space, to take the dead latch out of the equation. You can make your own modified framing square. Just buy a framing square from your local hardware store, and cut it on an angle (as shown in the video). I used an angle grinder to cut mine. The last video I am using the Tri-Blade made by @intothesmoke5714 . It’s a multi-tool that is foldable, making it easy to carry in your gear. There are a few commercially made options available. The door in this video is not installed correctly, the dead latch has fallen into the keeper, making this an easy loid for the Tri-Blade.
