I have composed it especially for this occasion about 4 weeks ago, when the first snow fell down here in the eastern part of Austria. The first snow is something special every year. First of all, the amazement of the first falling snowflakes never stops and appears every year - second, I start to feel in a Christmas-sy mood. The piece turns to minor and also gets virtuos because almost every year when the first snow falls, I am suffering from a cold. Moreover I feel some kind of restless in these period of time, although the warmth and comfort of Christmas surrounds me.
