Europe's most extreme space weather simulation tests the impact of a solar superstorm on spacecraft and ground infrastructure. The exercise, conducted by the European Space Agency (ESA), modeled a scenario akin to the 1859 Carrington Event, which could cause severe electronic disruption. The simulation involved a triple threat from the sun: an X-class solar flare, a barrage of high-energy particles, and a coronal mass ejection (CME).
