Eurasian Coot ( Fulica atra) This bird is also known as the common or Australian coot, is a member of the rail and crake bird family, the Rallidae. It can be found in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and parts of North Africa. These are filmed in the south-eastern part of Norway in a small pond close to a heavy trafficked road. Lots of people visit this pond so most birds are found on the far opposite side some 200 meters away from where I am filming. But these Coots where only 20 to 50 meters away from me and where either looking for food or had started collecting materials for their nest. The Eurasian coot is 36–38 cm (14–15 in) in length with a wing-span of 70–80 cm (28–31 in). It is reluctant to fly and mostly flap its wings and run on the water surface if spooked. Both male and female look alike and its feet are only partially webbed. Coots are omnivore, and will eat a varied diet. And can be seen here diving for algae, seeds and vegetations. It will also eat small eggs of other water birds. For more information see: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/2... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasia... Under the Community tab on my YouTube Channel I will share polls, photos etc from Norway and our home in Cebu Philippines. This year we will return to Cebu sometime this July / August and I am super happy to once again be back home after such a long and involuntary absence. I will then go back to making more vlogs and show you some of the changes that have happened since last time I posted a video from our backyard. As always I appreciate your comments. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below. Note: I will remove all negative and spam comments - keep the comments positive and and I will respond as best I can. Take care and all the best. -Duffy #BirdingAdventure #BirdingIsFun #DuffyRomerica
