Or, for similar money, you can get something smaller but posher, like a Volkswagen T-Cross or Ford Puma. If space for the family is your priority, you can’t go far wrong with the HS. There’s space in the back for a six-foot adult to stretch out, plus a 507-litre boot that’ll accommodate the whole family’s kit and clobber. Better yet, you don’t lose any space by opting for the plug-in hybrid model. The dashboard also looks really posh for the money. There’s a twin-screen setup just like you get on a BMW X3, with both displays under one seamless sheet of glass. The materials in the places you touch feel pretty posh, though you don’t have to go too far down on the dashboard to find where MG’s saved money - and build quality isn’t up to the standards of pricier models.
