There are a few ways to restore your barbell, and this method is one of the quickest because it doesn't require soaking over time in a makeshift tub. Step 0: Remove surface rust (if there is any) with a wire brush Step 1: Apply Rust Dissolver (I used one by Rust-Oleum) Step 2: Wash product off with soap & water then dry well NOTE: You can stop here for a bare steel bar and maintain it Step 3: Cover with rust reformer (I used Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer) Step 4: Finish with your choice of paint (I used Rust-Oleum 2X Flat Black) I did note at the end that if I were to do this again I wouldn't paint over the sleeves because they experience too much friction and will strip this cheap paint method.
