#composting #Jaraform Composting - who would have thought that composting could be so fascinating and exciting to do! With my new JR400 Tumbler Composter hauled outside, it's time to start the process of turning garbage into nutrient-rich soil for my garden. But which is better? I'll let you be the judge of that! Today I go over some of the basics of composting including what should (and should not) go into a healthy compost mix, a general guide to ideal ratios of compost "ingredients," and my thoughts on tending the composting process. Don't have a high-end composter? That's ok, I show you how I started successfully composting using an inexpensive alternative. No matter how you go about it, composting is another fantastic way to get up and get active. If you're new here, welcome to my channel. If you're a subscriber thank you so much for coming back. One small way you can help support my channel is by subscribing, sharing, and clicking on the notification button so you don't miss any videos. Thank you so much for your love and support, and more importantly, for joining me today ► MUSIC - You can find all the songs I use here: https://share.epidemicsound.com/ ► JORA JK400 COMPOSTER - 14.2 CUBIC FEET This composter is stable, food grade non-toxic insulation that allows the temperatures to rise up to higher than 160 degrees F, resulting in quick and efficient composting. It has two chambers so while one is being filled, the compost in the other chamber matures. The JK400 has a volume of up to 106 gallons and capacity of 13-21 gallons a week. Side vents allow a flow of oxygen into the compost bin which, along with kitchen waste (green) and a carbon source (browns), will result in a successful compost. ► THINGS YOU CAN COMPOST YES TO: Leaves, Non-invasive Grass or Lawn Cuttings, Veggies, Salad Mixes, Organic Garden Clippings, Fruits, Avocado Shells and Seed, Juicing Pulp, Chicken/ Cow/Horse Waste or Bedding(such as Soiled Hay, Straw and Wood chips), Non-Treated Wood or Wood Pallets, Topsoil Or Organic Compost , Rock Dust (Trace Minerals), Humate (Humic Acid and Fulvic Acid), Worm Castings, Coffee Grounds, Loose Tea Leaves (Green Tea is high in nitrogen and the leaves can wart off pest and insects including when watering house plants) and last: Organic Paper Towels, ► THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T COMPOST Blue Grass or Bermuda Grass/Invasive Grass Clippings, Diseased or Insect-Infested Plants, Meat and Fish Scraps, Dairy, Fats, and Oils, Dog or Cat Waste, Charcoal Ash, Any Thorny Plant Clippings (such as Rose Stems, Raspberry or Blackberry), Any Bulbs Or Flowers that have been treated with Toxic Herbicides and/or Poisonous Plants, Weeds that have Gone to Seed, Invasive Tree Clippings (such as Black Walnut Tree Debris), Charcoal Ash, Any Plants or Wood that has been Treated with Pesticides or Preservatives. ► About Jscursions: Jscursions was created to inspire others to get up and get active.
