A news report showing a PLAN excercise, involving Type 054A Guided Missile Frigates operating radars and engaging targets under sewere ECM jamming conditions, with both their anti-ship missiles and surface to air missiles. Utilizing the shipborne helicopter's radar connected to the Frigat via datalink, the crew managed to circumvent the radar-jamming and was enabled to engage incoming simulated enemy aircrafts with their HHQ-16 surface to air missiles. These footages show some rare insights into the operation within the Type 054A (NATO: Jiangkai-II class) Guided Missile Frigate, and also showed, for the first time, the launch of its main anti-air weapon; the HHQ-16 medium range VLS SAM.
