Clio Rubinos, MD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC, discusses the clinical implementation of the 2HELPS2B score, a tool used to stratify the risk of electrographic seizures in patients in intensive care units (ICUs). The score, which takes into account both clinical and electrography variables, allows for more efficient use of electroencephalogram (EEG) resources by identifying patients at low risk who can discontinue monitoring, while those at higher risk require prolonged monitoring. This implementation has been shown to reduce the amount of continuous EEG hours in low-risk patients without compromising seizure detection, and has been successfully adopted in other centers. This interview took place at the 77th American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.
