As I hitchhike deeper and deeper into the heart of my Australian odyssey. I am slowly hurtling, headlong way over yonder across this endless, dusty plain. No line on the horizon. As folk slowly pull up and check me out, I wave, thumbs aloft as I smile and try my very best to appear normal. A big ask and a big effort. I am so grateful for their fleeting, positive energy. Some kind of connection and consciousness. Funny how you can sit with a perfect stranger in total silence. Miles and miles we trundle,, yet it doesn't feel that way. What's so good about goodbye.? How can farewell be fare.? Yet here I go again, as I walk and walk and walk and walk. My feet ache like there's no tomorrow. Let tomorrow be. Over land and sea I will go. In all of these ghost towns, the kindness of strangers knows no bounds and I am deeply humbled, though I have encountered my fair share of misfits and freaks. I blend in seamlessly. I will give Wolf Creek a swift swerve, though. The relentless dusty, dry heat swirls and blinds me. I can't really see anyway. Then there are vistas that extend out of sight, my mind goes wandering through great spaces filled with vague forms. When I can see through the blinding light, I see spiders everywhere, as they scuttle and scurry about their business. Though they have no business settling in my wide, open cake hole, as I sleep. I can still taste them now. Huge, fat, fury gloves, choking the living life out of me. I'm ever so slowly plodding and crawling to Brisbane, though I have an eternity to go. Feels eternally elusive. From there, I set sail over the Tasman Sea, over the wide blue yonder to New Zealand. Once I arrive at the North Island, I will make my way to Porangahou, south of Waipukurau, in Southern Hawke's Bay. Hell of a journey.! Wildly chaotic and unpredictable. So apt. Feels like there is no time or space. What is real and unreal. I am that negative reality in version. My final destination will be, Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturitpukakapikimaungahorounukupokaiwhnuakitanahu, This is where I will set up camp, sleep for a thousand years and further luxuriate in my endless plain of discovery. I don't even want to think about getting back.
