AspenTech channel has brought another exciting video, in which conventional and extractive distillation schemes are compared for the separation of Heptane-Toluene Mixture. The comparative analysis is conducted, based on condenser and reboiler duties. Please do watch, like, and share the video, and subscribe the channel. Problem Statement: Feed Conditions: Vapor Fraction = 0.5, Pressure = 1 bar, Flowrate = 100 kgmole/h, Equimolar Heptane-Toluene mixture Conventional Distillation: Number of Stages = 80, Feed Stage = 69, Top product in vapor form, Condenser and reboiler pressure as 1 bar, 99 mole% Heptane in the top product, 99 mole% Toluene in the bottom product. Solvent Conditions: Temperature = 181 °C, Pressure = 1 bar, Flowrate = 60 kgmole/h, Pure Phenol (100 mole%). Extractive Distillation: 1st Column: Number of Stages = 50, Feed Stage = 37 for feed, and 4 for solvent, 99 mole% Heptane from the top product, Solution from the bottom product, Condenser and reboiler pressure as 1 bar. 2nd Column: Number of Stages = 28, Feed Stage = 21, 99 mole % toluene from the top product, 99.999 mole% phenol from the bottom product. Recycle the solvent. #Comparative_Analysis #Extractive_Distillation #Aspen_HYSYS @
