OBWALDEN 4 lake hike (Melchsee Frutt - Trübsee)

A really scenic high altitude hike from Melchsee Frutt cable car station, up along the spectacular Bonistock ridge, down through Tannalp and Engstlen, up across the Jochpass and down to the pretty lake of Trübsee. The total distance was 15km with just under 900m of elevation gain. The route is truly beautiful with so much variety, and some incredible views along the route. I did the hike on the hottest day of the year and the visibility was a little hazy, but still really enjoyable. If using public transport, you can take the 343 bus to Stockalp, then the cable car up to Melchsee Frutt. At the other end, I took the cable car down from Trübsee to Engelberg, and then the train from there. Simple!
