Ans: A substance which has identical particles is called a pure substance. In pure substances, all particles are the same, having same sizes, same chemical and physical properties. For example, the iron sheet is a pure substance. It contains only iron atoms. It has no other particles. So, we say that iron sheet is a pure substance. Note: pure substance is made up of either one type of atoms or molecules or formula unit. Q: Difference between pure substances and mixtures? Ans: 1) In pure substance, particles are chemically combined together. 2) In mixture, particles are physically combined together. 3) In pure substance, particles have same chemical and physical properties. 4) In mixture, different particles have different physical properties. 5) Pure substances have same chemical and physical properties. 6) Mixtures have different chemical and physical properties. 7) Pure substances can not be separated by any physical process. 8) Mixtures can be separated by physical process.
