The Hatkeshwar Temple, located in Vadnagar, is an ancient shiva temple depicting a beautiful amalgamation of various elements such as curvilinear shikhara, round dome, sturdy columns and its capitals and cusped arches. The temple is constructed of local sandstone and which was reused to recreate some damaged members and few new ones as required. Various cracks, later additions and leakages had damaged the structure and caused vegetation along with algal growth. An integrated restoration plan has helped to rectify all the impairments, repair and restore after a thorough study and evidence collection. Maximum emphasis has been on the reusing the existing the original material which aims at maintaining authenticity. Various tools and precision craftsmanship has articulated the workmanship of the temple under the guidance of consultant and client. The usage of traditional material was implemented to retain authenticity and as a means of sustainability.
