The Dundee Wave of Change project, part of the Cultural Olympiad, provided an opportunity for a group of young people to depict their home city through the medium of film. Young people from The Shore -- a young person's venue in the city centre -- explore experiences of living in Scotland's 4th city and capture a broad range of aspirations for Dundee's future. A key feature of the film making process was to engage and empower the young people throughout the process of planning, scripting, shooting and editing the film -- providing support as required but allowing the young people to take ownership of the project. The result is a multi-faceted exploration of Dundee today together with a range of hopes (and fears) for the city's future. The film was premiered at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) on 7 October 2012 as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival. The young people who made the film introduced the event and participated in a Q&A session. The young people were supported by professional film maker Jonathan Charles of D Fie Foe Productions and funding support was kindly provided by Dundee City Council and People Making Waves (the Scottish component of the Olympic Legacy Trust UK).
