Origine Oscura in the Asylum of Infinite Becoming is a new multi-media installation by Scarlett Rouge. Modeled in the ceramic arts of ancient practices and cut in the industrial age of robotic hands, Origine Oscura is the united product of mythological stories and technological advancement. Origine Oscura embodies the lost feminine, a disconnection with nature, and due to the anger and feeling of abandonment by abusive use and neglect, she is no longer prepared to give but craves to consume. The installation, structured as a ceremonial space, is centered around an icon sculpture in petrified wood, who stands enclosed in a grove of eerie trees made of resin and remnants of a wasteland. A deep drumming sound draws the viewers into the inner circle of a suspended ritual that is about to commence, or perhaps has already occurred. What remains ambiguous is: is the event a glorification and worship of consumption, or is it meant to instigate reflection and questioning of the dis-ease state of lack that is infecting our intimate and global environment ?
