On March 18, 1984 Jay L. Lively died in a tragic accident along with six other people from an intoxicated driver. Jay was on his way back to Flagstaff coming back from a practice in Tempe, AZ* According to reports from his father Jerry, she never showed any signs of remorse for her actions. The judge on the case said that he would have given her a 25 year sentence if he could have. However at the time of the accident the leniency for drinking and driving was not as punishable. Because of Jay’s tragic fate, sentences now incur greater penalties. Although no sentence will bring Jay back to us, we honor his life every time we step out onto the ice. Jay was 17 years old. This Video Tells the connection I have to Jay L. Lively and the hockey skates that were left to me by my Uncle that I learned to skate on. In some way I like to think that my success and ability to skate is directly attributed to Jay Lively. Jay lives on every day in our hearts and contributes to our passion for the ice. Thank you for remembering Jay with us, TC *Epidemic Sound : https://share.epidemicsound.com/y1kwzp Artist: Squiid Song: Angels & Stardust *a slight error in recalling the precise details in the video, but the important thing is that Jay is remembered and forever skates on. He spent countless hours on the ice with his sisters and family. Jerry Lively and his mother Dottie have been able to move on as we all must do, in the best way we can given the tragic circumstances of that day. Every time we fall we must learn to skate on - as his family has. Jerry Lively helped with the reconstruction of the updated ice rink - Thank you so much!
